A BUSY Weekend
AWA attended three events this past weekend, and we can't wait to tell you about them!
Congresswoman Donna Edward's Annual College & Career Fair
For the second time, AWA was invited to attend Congresswoman Donna F. Edward's Annual College & Career Fair. Here, kids drew and colored while getting information from Darren Soto about possible career choices that involve art.
United Fanboyz Comic-con
The first ever United Fanboyz Comic-con was a event full of like-minded artists and fans. We had a lot of fun meeting and recruiting new people to our mission.
Annapolis Comic-con
Sunday was a phenomenal day. With two workshops and a panel, AWA was in full motion. Artist Darren Soto hosted his patented Three Words Game, where participants provide three words while another tries to incorporate them into one photo. Andrew Smart (pictured above) led other artist in drawing a real life Cosplayer. In doing so, he taught about form and structure.
We also hosted a panel about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Dr. Arnold T. Blumberg - world renowned zombie expert, comic book historian, and scholar – discussed themes tackled in the MCU movies, television series, and of course, the comic book source materials. Through this preview of his upcoming Spring 2015 course at the University of Baltimore, Dr. Blumberg explained how Marvel is crafting an unprecedented and impressive modern mythology.
The weekend was indeed a busy one, and we can't express how great a time we had. Check out our Events page to figure out where else we'll be in the coming months. And to relive our past events, check out our Photos!
