2015 Update

It’s hard to believe that Art Way Alliance is only two years old. In such a relatively short time, we have reached hundreds of children in the DMV and Baltimore area who are interested in art and comic books. For many under our tutelage, a slight interest in creating comics has transformed into a dedicated hobby. For others, these classes have strengthened not only their imagination and curiosity, but also their skills in reading, math, and science. The artists, companies, and community leaders with whom we have partnered are essential to our mission, and we have no doubt that without them, our offered services would not be the effective and engaging programs that they are today.

"[Our son] is beginning to see the connection between his art and his academics and we are excited about that."

This year, we are working to expand upon our successes by reaching more communities and creating more partnerships in the DMV area. Currently, our main goals are to recruit new artists, partner with additional non-profits, and develop classes for those interested in animation and video game design. By the end of this year, we hope to fully partner with at least three schools and/or neighborhoods in the DMV area through continuous classes and events.

We are already off to a good start toward this goal. Last month, we started incredibly successful classes at the Berwyn Heights Boys and Girls Club, hosted by Ben Gaspers. Throughout this session of classes, we have engaged children and thrilled parents with our program. We can’t thank Berwyn Heights BGC enough for their help in orchestrating this program. We appreciate their hard work and look forward to continuing to work with them.

"My daughters look forward to class each week. [One] spent hours last night drawing characters. Thank you for bringing these classes to us."

But our most important partnership is with you, the people who comprise the communities that we aim to serve. We know that the best way to serve the community is to be of the community, and that means listening to your ideas and recommendations. It means ensuring that your voice is heard as we continue to grow.  If you are interested in helping us accomplish our mission, please feel free to contact usTogether, we’re going to make this the best year yet.
