Justin Switzer, Teen librarian of the Southeast Anchor Library, Enoch Pratt has done it again. For the second year in a row, Justin organized PrattCon, a library convention that celebrates pop culture. This year, the focus of the con was animation and video games.

Art Way Alliance contributed to the animation aspect of the day by offering a workshop on the medium. Taught by Jimmy Horner and Jake Heagy, participants got to create their own animation with just a pencil and a stack of post its. Brittany Pate instructed kids and adults on how to transform their favorite characters into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) superheroes! Our personal favorite was seeing Hello Kitty drawn as a scientist. Our new artist was really excited to be a part of the intimate convention, and was nice enough to share her photos with us.

In addition, participants could create their own superhero mask, watch anime, play Life-Sized Pac-man, get their face painted, and play tabletop games. Cosplayers were judged in contests for best anime/comic book character and best video game character. It was simply six hours of pure, unadulterated fun.

"Pratt Con was delightful & fun!" Brittany told us. "The energy from the guests and vendors made the visit enjoyable and I'm defiantly looking forward to coming back again to teach and interact with the guests again next year."

We look forward to next year too!
