ArtSlam 2016- Geppi's Entertainment Museum

Amazing artwork - some of which were edible thanks to Comic Cupcakes - was on display among the exhibitions at Geppi's ArtistSLAM. In addition, the 501st Legion, a worldwide Star Wars organization dedicated to promoting interest in Star Wars,  joined us in their hand made costumes to discuss the new movies and comics.

But ArtistSLAM was more than just Star Wars. Local Baltimore Artists, along with Comic Book Writer Justin Jordan and the 501st Legion, met and networked at this first ever event. Upstairs, Tim Craggette of the I Love NerdLife Podcast moderated "Chat with the Artist Panel." Guest Justin Jordan, Rafer Roberts, and Ally Cat participated in a panel that offered advice on art, skill, marketing, and cats. (Yes, cats.) Artists of all types were front and center for this event. Our friend from Call That Art, Andew Smart, got the attention of Justin Jordan by drawing the titular main character of his Image Comic book, Luther Strode. This drawing, pictured below, even got the attention of Jordan's partner, artist Tradd Moore, who gave his approval via Instagram.

ArtistSLAM also saw Indie video game developer Hugo Minera Jr. show off a demo of his game Bullet Blue. Minera, who is also a Pixel Artist and 2D Animator, was highly influenced by old school Nintendo games when creating this masterpiece, but added modern elements to make this a game that can't be won by just button mashing.

All in all, this was a great time opportunity to network with amazing artists, discover new products and groups, and of course, see great memorabilia. We're sure that Geppi's next ArtistSLAM will be even bigger and better than this one!
